The Sherizen Family

From Itzko Sherayzin of Karolin near Mozyr, through Sholom of Mozyr and Toronto, Herman of Detroit, Paul and Howard, to David Kalman Sherizen today: eight generations on paper.

How solid each step is. Five generations, Sholom to David, stand on North American and family records. Three more, Leyba, Zelik and Itzko, come from one 1858 Karolin revision list; Instinct grades them confirmed, and they join Sholom through his stone’s “son of Yehuda Leib”, which David ruled proven. The record that would seal that join (the full 1874 census) has not been found. Itzko himself is known only from his son’s patronymic. Above him, the older Karolin households are candidates, not linked.
